If you are an Indian and have been screwed by PayPal, you do not have to stick with them. There are several other ways to get your money from foreign companies without having to be a victim of their stupid policies and lack of rules in India.
To find out a different solution, you can visit this Wikipedia page which lists provides a huge list of service providers who are PayPal alternatives and also allow you to accept online payments.
In addition to these I also suggest you to take a look at https://www.alertpay.com/ and http://www.westernunion.com/ which provide an easy way to send and receive money online.
Though not all of them may work in India, these solutions are definitely 100 times better than PayPal.

Firefox and Chrome Browsers to Offer “Do Not Track” Options
Last month, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) published a consumer privacy report. The commission is apparently concerned about advertising and tracking cookies, which many consider to be intrusive, but not dangerous. Tracking allows advertisers to target users with custom or localized advertisements. In hopes of fixing this issue, the report suggested that web browser makers should add a “Do Not Track” mechanism.
It’s not surprising that the FTC would suggest something like this. Government bureaucrats are always offering suggestions on how free market economies should be fixed, even when they aren’t broken. However, it is surprising that only a few weeks later, Mozilla’s Firefox and Google’s Chrome developers have already announced that they’ll be offering “Do Not Track” in future versions of their browsers.
Firefox Support
Alex Fowler, at Mozilla, announced support for Mozilla’s Do Not Track at his blog the other day. He said, “we’re seeking ways to provide Firefox users a deeper understanding of and control over the flow of personal information online. We’re pleased to be able to share one of these efforts today …”.
When a web browser visits a web site, the site asks the web browser for some basic information before displaying the page. This information is transmitted in the “HTTP header”, and the new DNT (Do Not Track) warning will be added to this header. Once this warning is received by a web site, it’s up to them to decide whether or not to attempt to read and place tracking cookies in the browser’s cookie cache.
This feature isn’t available yet, however, you can get an addon with the DNT header. Here are some frequently asked questions about DNT at Mozilla.
Chrome Support
Two days ago, the Google Public Policy blog posted an article telling us how they are handling the FTC request for a “Do Not Track” feature in Chrome. They said, “Today we are building on this work, and that of others, by allowing you to permanently opt out of ad tracking from all companies that offer opt-outs through the industry self-regulation programs”.
The Keep My Opt-Outs extension takes advantage of already existing opt-out programs offered by the Network Advertising* Initiative, which includes 50 different web tracking services. Later, an option will be added to the Chrome browser, with no need for an extension.
Conclusions
As usual, a Government agency is looking for problems to fix so they’ll be able to brag that they are useful sometimes. Nobody’s going to dispute their suggestions in this case, and paranoid consumers may actually benefit from this initiative.
It’s not surprising that the browser developers would jump onto the band-wagon. They’ll do anything to avoid provoking government agencies from putting a collar (or noose) around their necks. These browser changes are a cheap solution to a problem that many people didn’t consider as being serious.
Sometimes, an action like this can have unintended consequences. This time, it might be a win for everyone except the advertisers. What effect will these changes have on the web sites which depend on the advertising revenue?
Android 3.0 Honeycomb Platform Highlights Release
First and foremost, the UI of Honeycomb has been developed from the ground up for tablets unlike iOS, where the OS was ported from the iPhone to the iPad. The highly appreciated and loved ‘Notification bar’ has been re-vamped to ‘System bar’ in Honeycomb and is now located at the bottom of the screen.
Along with this, the internal applications like the Browser, Gallery, Camera and Email have been updated to sport new features and to take full advantage of the bigger screen. The text selection, copy and paste method along with the Keyboard have been improved in Honeycomb as well.
For developers, Honeycomb includes a new animation framework that will easily allow animating the various UI elements. It also includes a new DRM framework, support for HTTP Live streaming and support for digital media transfer. One major change in Android 3.0 is that the 2D graphics will be hardware accelerated. This will not only help in improving the system performance but will also help the developers to create much better graphics intensive applications.
Android 3.0 will also bring in support for multi-core processors and support for new enterprise policies like encrypted storage, password expiration and password history etc. Readers can read the whole Android 3.0 Honeycomb platform highlights here.
I hope that some of these changes will be incorporated in the future version of Android for mobiles as well especially the hardware accelerated 2D graphics feature.
Along with this, Google has also released a new version of their SDK which includes the new API for Android 3.0 and other enhancements. This will allow developers to make sure that their apps are compatible with the latest tablets running on Honeycomb.
Gmail Brings Desktop Notifications to Chat
The Gmail blog has announced a new feature today that will let users opt for desktop notifications of chat. This provides users with notification messages once they receive a new chat. It is very similar to the desktop notification feature for Google Talk and comes in handy for people who chat from the browser itself.
The Gmail blog announces this new feature as:
If you use Google Chrome, these days can be over since we just launched HTML5 desktop notifications which display pop-ups whenever a chat message or new email arrives. The new notification system is based on HTML5 and can be turned on at Settings -> General tab. If you have tried this with a different browser other than Google Chrome, you would have seen this message:
Google has made the feature available only for Chrome users currently but has assured of supporting more browsers in future as it will roll out this notifications system as part of the Standard Web Platform.
In Google Chrome, you will see the option as:
As evident from Google’s plans of incorporating this into the Standard Web Platform, the feature will work not only for Google Chat, but also for AOL IM, Yahoo! IM and other chats. The notification appears as:
It took a while before the feature started working after turning it on, but the notifications look classy and are quite helpful because I have lost important conversations on multiple occasions. Chat is a method of instant conversation and once included into the Standard Web Platform, this will definitely improve the web as a whole.
Republlic Day (INDIA)
Republic Day is one of the three national holidays of India and the greatest festival celebrated in the country. It is celebrated every year on January 26, in New Delhi with great pomp, fanfare and pageant. While in the capitals of the States and other headquarters, it is marked with patriotic fervor. The most spectacular celebrations are marked by the Republic Day Parade that takes place in the capital of New Delhi at Rajpath. It includes march past of the three armed forces, massive parades, folk dances by tribal folk from different states in picturesque costumes marking the cultural unity of India. Further, the streak of jet planes of Indian Air Force, leaving a trial of colored smoke, marks the end of the festival.
It was the Lahore Session of the Indian National Congress at midnight of December 31, 1929 - January 1, 1930, that the Tri-Color Flag was unfurled by the nationalists and a pledge was taken that on January 26 every year, "Republic Day" would be celebrated and that the people would unceasingly strive for the establishment of a Sovereign Democratic Republic India. The professed pledge was successfully redeemed on January 26, 1950, when the Constitution of India framed by the Constituent Assembly of India came into force, although the Independence from the British rule was already achieved on August 15, 1947. It is because of this fact that August 15 is celebrated as Independence Day, while January 26 as Republic Day.
The Republic Day celebrations of India have rightly become world famous as one of the greatest shows on earth drawing thousands of eager sight-seers from all over the country and many parts of the world as well. No other country can draw on such a wealth of tribal traditions and cultures, with so many regional forms of dances and dress. And, no other country in the world can parade so many ethnically different people in splendid uniforms, all united in their proven loyalty to the Government elected by the people and in their proud traditions and legendary gallantry.
